Softball Swings into Spring

Softball has begun at McLouth High.

The Lady Bulldogs softball team has 19 players out this year, the most we’ve had for years. The head coach is Ballard Patterson, and the assistant coach is Tim Stauch.

The lady bulldogs return 3 seniors this year with high hopes of making this season one to remember. Returning for the 4th year at shortstop/pitcher is Samantha Farris, and in the outfield for the 4th year now for the lady Dawgs are Stacie Stauch in right field and Abby Annis in center field.

When talking to Missy Rome about this season, she thinks that it’s great that we have a JV program now. More girls are getting interested in the softball program. She also said that one of her main goals this season is to “Go to state and dominate.” She’s ready to work hard.

Kendall Patterson, the returning Catcher also chipped in her opinion on the season ahead. “I am very enthusiastic about the success our team will have this year, however I am more excited about how much fun we still have and the experiences we will share together as a team.”

First time players this year have been enjoying their time as well with the girls. They are learning knew things everyday. Leighann Morlan says that “My teammates are friendly. They are very supportive and build each other up. and Mikalya McHenry knows that” when I mess up it’s okay because the coaches know that I will get it.” When talking to the coaches, we asked “what are you goals for this year?” They both replied “We’ve been practicing really hard. We’ve been able to get out on the field even with these weather conditions."

"Our girls try hard every day in practice. We expect perfect practice everyday, and we especially expect them to be focused and ready to go. We’re ready to win state. This is our biggest goal as coaches. Just to win state.”
