Scholarship Opportunities

Seniors interested in the Kansas Board of Regents Vocational Education Scholarship Program


The Kansas Vocational Scholarship is for full time students enrolled in designated one or two year vocational programs. The designated programs are located at various Kansas area technical schools, community colleges, KSU at Salina, and several four year colleges. Deadline for the November scholarship test is October 6, 2008 and for the March testing the deadline is February 6, 2009.  See Mr. Weeks for an application. 


Wichita State University Engineering Scholarship Application deadline is October 31, 2008. Applications can be downloaded at http://www.wichita.edu/engr.scholarships"  Engineering majors are in: aerospace, biology, computer, electrical, industrial, manufacturing and mechanical.


SENIORS: See Mr. Pierce if you are interested in applying for a scholarship from the state athletic directors association.

SENIORS majoring in corrections/criminal justice or related social/behavioral sciences field see Mr. Weeks about a scholarship. The due date is October 15, 2008.


Scholarship Contest

The Kansas State Department of Education and Kansas Highway Patrol are conducting a Kansas School Safety Hotline scholarship contest directed at encouraging students to promote the Kansas School Safety Hotline. This contest is open to any Kansas resident who will be graduating from an accredited Kansas high school in the 2008-09 school year and will be attending an accredited postsecondary education program in Kansas.

Three scholarships will be awarded in each of the following areas. 30-second public service announcement for television.

First Place Scholarship -- $1,250

Second Place Scholarship -- $750

Third Place Scholarship -- $500

Entries must be about school safety and include the Kansas School Safety Hotline telephone number 1-877-626-8203. Topics may include school violence, bullying/cyberbullying, weapons/bombs, battery/abuse, etc.

Entries must be postmarked no later than December 15, 2008. Full contest rules, entry forms, and posters are available online at http://www.kansashighwaypatrol.org.
