McLouth Spelling Bee

January 24, 2010

B     On January 14, Elementary students in grades three, four and five as well as Middle School students, battled to be named champion of their school’s Spelling Bee.  Each round the announcer would share words wondering if they could be spelled correctly.  Elimination was a difficult thing.  Students lasted through many rounds of words, spelling each one correctly until one letter would send them to the seat in the audience.  The final round came and was hard fought.
The Elementary School champion is fourth grader, Natalie Papa-Richardson.  Julia Johnston, a third grader, became the alternate during the final round.

Callie Rice, 7th grader, lasted many rounds and won the Middle School Spelling Bee!

Callie Rice won the Middle School Bee with Jonathan Wright as her alternate.  The champions were awarded a dictionary for their hard work.  If either champion cannot attend the County Spelling Bee, their alternate will take their place.  Let’s keep these two in our thoughts and encourage them as they move forward.
