Covid-19, Flu and communicable disease - Next Review date March, 2023

McLouth Schools follows current CDC and JCHD guidance related to Covid-19, Flu and communicable diseases. As of 08/23/2022 KDHE has continued to  allow schools to suspend identifying susceptible close contacts exposed to COVID-19 and any potentially exposed individuals will not be notified. It is the responsibility of the individuals/families to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home when ill.  Any student with an illness needs to adhere to return to school guidelines. We will update any newer recommendations as they become available. The newest guidance is from 09/12/2022. It is linked below.

Do not send your child to school if they are sick or if they test positive for Covid-19 or the FLU.  The most current guidelines recommend the following:

Everyone who tests positive for COVID-19 disease should stay home for at least 5 days and be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before leaving home (minimum 5-day home isolation). After that, they may resume normal activities but should wear a well-fitting mask around others, indoors and outdoors, for an additional 5 days.

Everyone who tests positive for the FLU should stay home for 5 days following onset of illness or until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, whichever is longer, except when seeking medical care.

Testing is available at the local Jefferson County Health Department. Please direct all Questions to them for the latest recommendations if you or your child test positive.

• Notify your school if your child tests positive for any communicable diseases.
