Return to School Guidelines by Illness

For School Year 2023-2024

STUDENTS WITH THE FOLLOWING ILLNESSES MAY RETURN AS INDICATED BELOW

*Chickenpox . . . . . . . . . Six days after the onset of first crop of lesions are crusted and fever free for 24 hours
*Covid-19. . . . . . . . . . . . 5 days after initial symptoms appear (day 0) and fever free 24 hours. Soonest return is day 6
*Diarrhea . . . . . . . . . . . 24 hours after last episode of diarrhea, stools have returned to normal and student can manage themselves in the bathroom.
*Fever. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 100 degrees or greater(School Guidelines). Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

*Fifth Disease . . . . . . . . Once rash has occurred, child is no longer contagious. Must be fever free for 24 hours
*Hand, foot & mouth....Once all blisters are healed over and fever free

*Head Lice . . . . . . . . . . .After treatment and prudent removal of nits
*Impetigo . . . . . . . . . . . 24 hours after starting antibiotic therapy

*Influenza. . . . . . . . . . . . 5 days after initial symptoms appear (day 0) and fever free 24 hours. Soonest return is day 6
*MRSA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Wounds must be covered, unless directed otherwise by a physician

*Pink Eye . . . . . . . . . . ..24 hours after starting antibiotic therapy

*Ringworm . . . . . . . . . . .Once treatment has begun and covering the rash for 24 hours

*Scabies . . . . . . . . . . . . After prescription treatment is completed

*Staph Skin Infection…. 24 hours after starting antibiotic therapy
*Strep throat . . . . . . . . .24 hours after starting antibiotic therapy
*Vomiting . . . . . . . . . . . 24 hours after last episode of vomiting and has held at least one meal down.
