Entrepreneurship
K. Bailey
EntrepreneurshipStudents enrolled in
Entrepreneurship learn to operate a small business.
The snack machine, Munchie Box, located in the secondary commons
area is their business. Students learn to write a business plan for
the business, how to order sufficient snacks, take inventory, how
to price items in order to make a profit, track profit, how to
deposit money into their business account, and how to request
payment of their monthly bill.
Profit made from the business is used to take a trip to larger city to compare business practices. Students are responsible for choosing the city, making travel arrangements, booking hotel rooms, choosing businesses to visit, finding fun places to visit, and restaurants to enjoy. This year the class planned a trip to San Antonio, TX. However, the day before the trip, American Airlines canceled the flight. After regrouping, the class decided to travel by Amtrak to St. Louis, MO. This turned out to be a very successful trip inspite of a tremor and having to wait on the train for a tornado to pass.
Congratulations to Brandy Alterman, Chelsey Breshears, Eva Drahos, Zach Mann, Jimmy Stufflebean, and Cody Wise for operating a successful business.
